To help banks prevent bank robberies and fine-tune their post-robbery procedures, the ABA has produced a free resource exclusively for ABA members.
The ABA Bank Robbery Deterrence Toolbox contains training materials and action-oriented items such as security checklists, risk assessment questionnaires and sample robbery description forms.
Each section of the 41-page toolbox is designed to be flexible and provide options to suit a variety of bank organizational sizes and practices. The toolbox sections include: how to evaluate a bank's robbery risk; an overview of deterrence options; procedures for before, during and "after a robbery; resources to protect a bank's customers and employees; and recommendations for working with law enforcement officials and communicating with the public.
The complete toolbox is available free to all ABA members at www.aba.com. The association mailed a paper-based version to its members in August.
