The Cimarron Bend wind farm is located in Clark County, Kansas. With an operating capacity of 599 MW, which is thanks in part to the addition of 74 more wind turbines, it has become Enel's largest wind farm in North America. Cimarron Bend's first two phases were completed in 2016 and 2017. The 199 MW expansion went into operation in December 2020.

Our Partners

Enel Green Power has partnered with Evergy, an electric services company, on a 150 MW PPA and with an agency of the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA) on a 30 MW PPA. Evergy is an American investor-owned utility power company with headquarters in Topeka, Kansas, and in Kansas City, Missouri. The electricity from a 150 MW portion of the expansion is being sold under a 15-year bundled PPA with Evergy and supports Evergy’s Renewables Direct program. Evergy aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions levels by 2050.

An agency of MPUA, the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC), which supplies energy to over 60 communities in Missouri and Arkansas, will purchase the output of a 30 MW portion of the project under a 12-year bundled PPA.

The original 400 MW portion of Cimarron Bend was sold under bundled long-term PPAs with Google and the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU).

Status of construction phase

Enel Green Power is committed to a sustainable worksite model. When we build projects, we monitor sustainability performance for energy, waste and water management, and the economic impact on the local community. We utilize innovative tools and construction techniques to build the new wind farms, ensuring that the highest safety standards are met both in the construction and management stages.

Additionally, Enel Green Power is constantly monitoring the status of the COVID-19 pandemic; the Cimarron Bend site has implemented safe working practices, strict travel guidelines, social distancing, office and project site sanitation, and other best practices to protect the health of its workers and the community in which it operates.
